Katie Holmes just keeps taking it off. Mrs. Tom Cruise, who made a huge hairstyle splash when she helped fuel Hollywood's bob craze in late 2007, has been seen out and about with a new pixie cut. Holmes and Cruise are seen here arriving at the premiere of "Tropic Thunder" in Los Angeles on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008.
The new cut is not as severe as the bob but is less formal than the short hairdo she sported in this recent photo.
When Katie first made headlines as the new love of actor Tom Cruise, she worked her hair long. Here's how she looked at a presentation of her movie "Batman Begins" in Rome, June 16, 2005.
The good thing about long hair is that is can be pulled back or swept up for an evening look. This was Katie's evening look April 7, 2005, when she attended the 2005 FiFi Awards in New York.
You can even get very, very formal for a special occasion. Here, Katie wrapped her hair in beads for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at Mortons on Feb. 25, 2007.
This is how Katie Holmes wore her hair when she married Tom Cruise in Italy on Nov. 18, 2006.
Last year, Holmes sheared off her long locks to create a sleek bob that some compared to the look popularized by Victoria Beckham, Holmes' friend. This is how she looked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala, in New York on May 5, 2008.
Internet critics weighed in on the new bob, seen here at the the Bambi media award ceremony in Duesseldorf, Germany, Nov. 29, 2007. Just as with the new pixie, some loved it and others hated it. "This whole sort of fashion evolution since becoming Mrs. Tom Cruise, I think it has taken her time to find her sea-legs," says Stacy London, co-host of TLC's "What Not to Wear."
The meanest critics sniped that Katie in a bob looked like her then 1-year-old daughter, Suri. Here, Katie and Suri watch the LA Galaxy soccer game July 22, 2007, at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Now that she has a new pixie do, the same critics are calling the bob sophisticated, chic and trendy.
