Kelly Clarkson arrives at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center Feb. 8, 2006 in Los Angeles, wearing a black strapless gown by Max Azria Atelier. It had a tight bodice and full skirt completely covered in ruffles. While the ballgown look "was not working" for style expert David Evangelista -- who though the dress was better suited for the Oscars -- both he and Suze Yalof Schwartz loved her blond hair.
Gwen Stefani
Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani arrive at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center Feb. 8, 2006 in Los Angeles. Stefani wore a self-designed one-shoulder, animal-print gown with a beaded empire waist, a necessary detail to accommodate her pregnant belly. The Early Show's style experts said she looked "elegant" and that the dress is perfect even if you are not pregnant.
Fiona Apple
Fiona Apple arrives at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center on February 8, 2006 in Los Angeles. The Early Show style expert David Evangelista said her flesh-toned J. Mendel design was one of his favorites. "She looked so soft, so pretty, so appropriate," he said.
Teri Hatcher
Teri Hatcher arrives to Kayne West's Grammy after party Feb. 8, 2006. Hatcher's plum-colored dress with lace panels by Jean Paul Gaultier was sheer to the point that the boy-briefs she wore underneath the gown were clearly visible. Curly hair and strands of pearls completed her wild-girl look. Evangelista says she's the only one who dressed "rock and roll" for music's biggest night. Schwartz gave it an emphatic thumps up.
Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys, who took the stage with Stevie Wonder during the 38th annual Grammy Awards, Feb. 8, 2006, in Los Angeles, got mixed reviews on her Armani Prive black beaded gown with a plunging V-neck and a dramatic low back. Glamour's Suze Yalof Schwarz called it the lowest neckline she has ever seen. "She carried it off and looked gorgeous," she said. Evangelista said it "looked Nancy Kerrigan-ish."
Faith Hill
Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill arrive for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Glamour magazine's Suze Yalof Schwartz picked Hill's flowery printed Gucci dress as her favorite of the night. "It looked better on Faith than it did on the runway," she said.
Jennnifer Love Hewitt
While white was all over Grammy's green carpet this year, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt's strapless white dress was not a favorite of The Early Show's style experts.
Sheryl Crow
Glamour magazine's Suze Yalof Schwartz gave Grammy nominee Sheryl Crow rave reviews from her sleek hair style to her black and white embroidered dress. "I thought it was fantastic," she said. "Black and white is a huge trend this season. The pony tail is the way to wear your hair to award shows right now."
Jay Z
The English-style gray windowpane suit that Jay Z wore was an attempt "to channel a rich businessman," he explained. He wore it with a handkerchief in his pocket and smoky sunglasses. The style experts raved about his "dapper" Grammy look.
Kanye West paired his white jacket with an unbuttoned red shirt, black pants and black leather gloves. The style experts offered a few fashion fixes for his Yves Saint Laurent ensemble. "I wanted him to button a couple of buttons there," said Schwartz. "And lose the necklace," added Evangelista.
