Just before the show, Toby Keith spent some time visiting with me and my friends on his bus. He was super relaxed and friendly as usual. He was telling us about the Christmas special he filmed the night before with Jewel, and also about his upcoming movie project.
In Toby's bus before the show with my friends Carmen and Maria. Toby had just done nine shows in 11 days, but got some down time and watched Oklahoma, his favorite football team, win their game. He was also listening to 70s music and belting out Three Dog Night lyrics. Boy, that took me back in time!
Patriotism is a huge theme at Toby Keith concerts and something that threads his entire show together. Here are a couple fans waiving the American flag as Keith sang on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at a show just outside of Boston. Keith reminded the fans just how lucky we all are to be born in this country!
This is a great shot of Keith's stage production, including his horn section, which totally rocks! It's non-stop high energy. When they're not playing, Keith draws in the crowd with some really funny dialogue and stories about his songs.
At times during the show, Toby Keith uses fireworks and confetti, but somehow it doesn't feel like an overwrought stage production. That's probably because he comes across as such a regular guy who throws in the bells and whistles just for fun without taking himself too seriously. It all just adds to the party atmosphere!
This is the first song in Toby Keith's encore called "American Soldier," where he pays tribute to those throughout our country's history who have given their lives to ensure our freedom. Throughout the show, Keith uses visual images to enhance certain songs. Check out the black and white photo displayed on the round screen above. The set design was really nice and added a lot to the experience.
