Work Resuming On Long-Awaited Phillies Mural

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Scaffolding is up and work is resuming on the long-awaited Phillies mural near the Walnut Street Bridge.
Phillies marketing director Michael Harris says it's taken way longer than expected to prepare the eight-story wall at 24th and Walnut.
"Multiple property owners, an adjacent bridge and river, active railroad tracks, various safety issues," he says all contributed to the delay.
But now 143 sections of the mural by artist David McShane will be applied like wallpaper.
"So slowly and incrementally you will see the mural begin to take shape over the course of the next seven weeks," Harris says. "Scaffolding will then come down, and then we'll have our official dedication."
That's planned for August first, during Phillies alumni weekend.
