Positively Philadelphia: Delaware River Ambassador Program
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - So, maybe you can't quite picture sunshine and walking along the Delaware river considering Philadelphia's been like a snow sandwich, but let's look ahead. The Delaware River is starting a new program and they may be looking for you.
Patrick Starr, Senior Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, talks about the Delaware River Ambassador Program. "We're recruiting people who have a real interest and a passion to create fun activities and educational programs about the Delaware River," Starr said.
Applications are being taken and Starr explains what an ambassador might be doing. "Let's say you want to do kayaking and you want to visit the Heinz refuge. You could organize such an event," Starr said.
And what can we look forward to once the winter gloom goes away? "One very exciting thing that happens every June is called the Delaware River Sojourn. A group of people actually come all the way down the Delaware in kayaks and canoes. People are just thrilled," Starr said. "They can't get over the incredible views on the river. There'll be birds, fish jumping."
So once again, take a moment to relax and coming soon - "Sun shining brilliantly, gentle breeze on the river, imagine."
