Panic Disorder
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Over 6 million Americans suffer from panic disorder and 4 million of them are women.
There are certain symptoms of panic disorder that we see in many of the people who suffer from it. These include repeated episodes of intense fear. In many cases, the fear is not expected and is a surprise. Physical symptoms can include shortness of breath, dizziness, and even chest pain. There are many levels of this feeling of panic, but there is treatment.
Counseling can help for many people, as can medications. I think the most important issue is many people live with it because they are embarrassed to seek help.
If you have panic disorder, realize you are not alone. You can get the help you need.
