Del. Cracking Down On Tinted Windows
DOVER, Del. (AP) -- The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles says it's cracking down on drivers who falsify documents that let them tint their car windows.
Residents can currently get a "medical tint waiver" if they have certain conditions. Currently, about 12,000 vehicles statewide have been approved, but officials say some people have been trying to fake documents to get their windows tinted. Now, the DMV is making waiver forms harder to fake by using special paper and training staff to recognize forged documents.
The DMV said Wednesday that the new training and security steps allowed DMV staff to spot six forged forms in the past month. The individuals were charged with second-degree felony forgery.
