PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- You have probably heard the theories over the years that men and women have different types of brains.
It has been said that men's brains are wired for math and focused thinking, or women's being wired for empathy and intuition and holistic thinking. After years of debate we are learning that there is neither a male brain or a female brain and the stereotypes that have been used by some to limit the horizons of members of either sex are just that -- stereotypes.
Researchers studying the brain though functional MRI and PET scan have found no significant difference in structure and function. According to the research, brains belong to people who have lived for decades in societies that treat men and women differently and gave them different experiences and opportunities. These changes can be reflected. Essentially, the brain is the result of a complex interplay of genes leading to the ultimate product.
