(CBS/AP) Zsa Zsa Gabor could be headed home from a Los Angeles hospital in as little as a few days, according to her husband Frederic Prinz von Anhalt.

The Hungarian actress and socialite was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery on Sunday to replace a tube in her stomach that became loose and caused bleeding. Gabor is also under observation due to an infection.

Von Anhalt told Reuters that although his wife still had a high fever, which had initially delayed the surgery, she was feeling "a little better" after being administered antibiotics. He called his wife a "fighter," adding he was "very optimistic" about Gabor's recovery.

Doctors were able to successfully reattach the tube on Sunday. Although she was still in critical condition, doctors had "guarded optimism" about her recovery, her publicist John Blanchette told the Los Angeles Times.

Gabor has been in and out of hospitals since she broke her hip in June 2010.
