NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Zsa Zsa Gabor returned home Wednesday to recuperate after being hospitalized at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles since July 17 for a broken hip, her husband said.

Prince Frederic von Anhalt told reporters gathered outside their Bel-Air mansion overlooking Los Angeles that the 93-year-old actress is glad to be back home.

"She is at home, and she is happy," he said. "She smiled already and started flirting with the guys who took her home. When she starts flirting, she is in good shape. At home here, with the environment and the air up here, we have lots of oxygen, and everything is clean. There's not lots of nurses and doctors hanging around."

The Hungarian-born actress' condition deteriorated after she underwent hip-replacement surgery for a hip she broke while trying to get into her wheelchair.

Gabor, the only survivor of a trio of acting sisters, has used a wheelchair since a 2002 car accident and a 2005 stroke.

She was originally expected to spend one week in the hospital but ended up being there four weeks, said von Anhalt.

"She's not a young chick," he said. "She's 93 years old. This time, she was scared. We have been married 24 years. She's been in the hospital a few times, but she was never scared. She always smiled and said, 'Don't worry. Everything is going to be OK.' She was scared because of her age and the big operation."

An ambulance followed by a police escort and led by von Anhalt, who was behind the wheel of his Rolls Royce, arrived at the gates of their Bel-Air home early Wednesday evening. Afterward, von Anhalt met with reporters and photographers at the end of the driveway. He called Gabor a fighter and said "she can go on for many more years."
