Zezel Refuses To Report To Pond

Vancouver Canucks veteran center Peter Zezel refused to report to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, nullifying Tuesday's trade.

Zezel was acquired by Anaheim for future considerations before Tuesday's trade deadline. A Mighty Ducks spokesman said he refused to report for "personal reasons."

Headed for the second postseason appearance in team history, Anaheim needed depth at the position with top center Steve Rucchin nursing a leg injury and rookies Antti Aalto and Johan Davidson getting extended playing time.

Zezel, 33, has just six goals and eight assists in 41 games this season but has appeared in 131 career playoff games, totaling 25 goals and 39 assists. He is solid on faceoffs and in the defensive zone.

The 15-year veteran, who missed 25 games earlier this season after suffering a fractured left leg, has 219 goals and 389 assists in 873 games with Philadelphia, St. Louis, Washington, Toronto, Dallas, St. Louis, New Jersey and Vancouver.
