You snooze, you lose: It's true for burglars, too

A pair of alleged of Kentucky house burglars got caught after they fell asleep. Maybe next time they'll think to bring along an alarm clock? AP / CBS
(CBS/AP) KUTTAWA, Ky. - Falling asleep on the job is never a good idea.

Especially if you're a burglar.

That's what Kentucky State Police say happened to Austin McDowell and Giovanni Lane, who are both charged with third-degree burglary after a man taking care of a house in western Kentucky found the men sleeping there.

The Paducah Sun quoted a police statement in reporting that McDowell, 20, and Lane, 21, fled when the caretaker in Kuttawa awakened them. McDowell was arrested at a truck stop on Interstate 24 and police found Lane in the woods.

A check of the Caldwell County Jail on Tuesday showed McDowell had made bond and Lane was still held.
