Yoko Ono tweets photo of bloodied Lennon glasses

Yoko Ono has tweeted a photo of her late husband John Lennon's bloodied glasses on the occasion of what would have been their 44th wedding anniversary. The controversial image, showing the glasses the former Beatle was wearing when he died, is intended to draw attention to gun violence.

"The death of a loved one is a hollowing experience," Ono later tweeted Wednesday morning. "After 33 years our son Sean and I still miss him."

Above the glasses reads: "Over 1,057,00 people have been killed by guns in the U.S.A. since John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8, 1980."

The 80-year-old widow also tweeted, "We should be concerned as much about mental richness as we are about physical richness."

The image is very similar to the cover art Ono used six months after Lennon's death for her first studio album, "Season of Glass," showing the same bloodied glasses next to a half glass of water with the blurred, gray Manhattan skyline as background.
