(CBS/AP) CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - George Huguely, the former University of Virginia lacrosse player who has been charged with murder in the May 2010 death of Yeardley Love, another UVA student and lacrosse player, is due in court Monday for a preliminary hearing in the murder trial.
Love was found dead in her apartment after suffering blunt-force trauma to the head. Huguely is accused of kicking in Love's door and slamming her head into a wall.
"It is truly devastating to wake up each day and realize she is no longer here," said Love's mother, Sharon, in a statement.
In regard to the upcoming trial, Love's family said, "We have faith in the justice system and trust the truth will prevail."
