In a statement released by Notre Dame Prep, Yeardley's family announced Wednesday that they have established a fund at the Towson, Maryland school where Love was a standout lacrosse and field hockey player, leader, and gifted student.

They have asked that all funds donated in her name be put towards the Yeardley Love Memorial Field.

"We want to forever honor Yeardley and her contributions to Notre Dame as a student, athlete, and friend. We believe that the new turf field will be a great tribute to Yeardley as future generations of students use it," explained Sharon Love, Yeardley's mother. "We are humbled that so many people would like to help NDP to memorialize Yeardley."

The Yeardley Love Memorial fund was established after the young woman preparing for graduation from the University of Virginia was allegedly murdered by former boyfriend and member of the UVA men's lacrosse team, George Huguely. Huguely is facing first-degree murder charges.

Since Love's death, NDP has experienced a tremendous outpouring of support from family, friends, and supporters who want to pay tribute to the radiant, charming young woman.

Notre Dame Prep has already raised 3% percent of the funds necessary for the turf field. Gifts may be made to The Yeardley Love '06 Memorial Field at www.notredameprep.com.
