Woman's Body Found in Suitcase Near Landmark NYC Restaurant
NEW YORK (CBS/WCBS/AP) Police are investigating a gruesome discovery made on a New York City street Wednesday morning.
Investigators say the body of a woman was found inside a suitcase shortly after midnight a block away from the famed Rao's Restaurant in Manhattan's East Harlem neighborhood.
Police said the woman was dark-skinned and in her 20's or 30's. She has not been identified.
A spokesman for the medical examiner's office said Wednesday afternoon that her death had been ruled a homicide. The cause of death was neck compression.
Police say a passer-by rummaging through the trash outside the building on East 114th Street found the suitcase and called 911.
Officers responded shortly after midnight Wednesday.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
