Woman arrives for court appearance in stolen car, say N.Y. cops

(CBS/AP) COLONIE, N.Y. - Authorities in upstate New York say a 33-year-old woman due in court over a pair of arrests showed up driving a stolen car (wait, there's more)...which she cleverly parked in the police department lot.

Police in Colonie, N.Y. say they got a call Wednesday from officers in neighboring Albany about a stolen car equipped with a global positioning system. Officers easily tracked the vehicle to the parking lot at the town's police headquarters, where the court is also located.

Police identified the driver as Pamela Copes of Albany, who had a court appearance Wednesday for two prior arrests for fleeing police and reckless driving. Copes can now add a felony charge of third-degree criminal possession for the car she was driving.

She's jailed on $2,500 bail.
