Woman and baby found dead ID'd after crash in Texas field

FORT WORTH - A woman found dead in a Fort Worth field near the scene of a car crash has been identified as 27-year-old Lindsay Groce, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office said. Groce, as well as a 13-month-old child, were found dead on Tuesday, according to CBS DFW.

A source with direct knowledge of the case has told the station that there were no obvious signs of foul play on the bodies. Reports do say Groce was naked, and that her clothes were found strewn in the field, indicating she disrobed as she walked with the child from her wrecked vehicle, said the source.

According to the station, she was found on top of the child, and their bodies were several hundred feet from the car.

With no visible injuries, other than "a few scratches," investigators are moving away from the case being a homicide, according to the source, who added that hypothermia had not been ruled out as a cause of the deaths.

A cause of death has not been determined.
