Wilson Phillips honors Beach Boys, Mamas & Papas

Wilson Phillips made quite the splash when they appeared on the hit movie "Bridesmaids" alongside "Saturday Night Live" favorites Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig, performing their memorable hit song, "Hold On."

Now, they're ringing in their 20th anniversary as a vocal trio with their latest album, "Dedicated," which pays tribute to their parents, who were members of legendary Beach Boys and The Mamas & the Papas.

The talented trio stopped by "Second Cup Cafe" on "CBS This Morning: Saturday" to perform "California Dreamin'" -- a Mama & the Papas classic, and "Hold On," a Beach Boys mega-hit.

"Dedicated" is made up entirely of classics by the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, father of Wilson Phillips' Wendy and Carnie Wilson, and of The Mamas & The Papas' John and Michelle Phillips, parents of Wilson Phillips' Chynna Phillips.

"Dedicated" represents the iconic track "Dedicated To The One I Love," the Mamas & The Papas' 1967 hit, along with other Mamas & The Papas popular singles such as "California Dreamin,'" "Monday Monday," "Twelve-Thirty" and "Got A Feeling." From The Beach Boys catalog are Wilson Phillips interpretations of "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "God Only Knows," "Don't Worry Baby," "In My Room" and "Good Vibrations."

So whether you're a Wilson Phillips fan or a fan of The Beach Boys or The Mamas & The Papas -- there's something for everyone.

With such a stellar selection of songs to choose from how did they decide what would make the album?

"Choosing the material was torture because there was so much to pick from," says Carnie Wilson. "But we all have a very strong feeling about the album and the songs. We've been doing 'In My Room,' 'God Only Knows' and 'California Dreamin'' on stage for a long time now, and the response is always phenomenal."

What's next for the trio?

Wilson Phillips will take on reality TV, starring in "Wilson Phillips: Still Holding On," where fans can get a glimpse of what their lives are like in and out of the recording studio. The show kicks off on Sunday on the TV Guide Network.

They also plan to tour across the U.S. and Canada, touting  "Dedicated."
