Will R&B star Ne-Yo leave music for acting?

(CBS) Ne-Yo is one of today's biggest R&B stars, and three-time Grammy winner has the accolades to prove it. The singer has scored five Top 10 songs and two No. 1 albums on the Billboard charts. He's also an accomplished songwriter, penning hit singles for the likes of Rihanna.

He's also found success in Hollywood as well. His recent film, "Battle: Los Angeles" (co-starring Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez) is No. 1 at the box office.

In an interview for CBSNews.com, Ne-Yo was asked what brought him back to the cinema. He explained, "Though 'Stomp The Yard' (his last feature film role, released in 2007) was a great opportunity, I felt like it wasn't very trying in the regard of acting...I kind of played myself in that film. Whereas, in "Battle: Los Angeles," it gave me the opportunity to play someone completely other than me."

And should his fans worry that he'll abandon music for acting all-together? Ne-Yo was adamant that he's here to stay on the record charts.

"Music flows through my veins," he said, "I don't see myself ever stopping music completely in order to further my acting career. If I can't do both at the same time...If I had to choose one, it would be music...But, music is my first love, and will always be."

If Ne-Yo is able to balance both music and acting, he may just turn out to be like his last single, "one in a million."
