Wife of Baltimore Co. police chief charged with hitting adult foster daughter
TOWSON, Md. -- The wife of Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson was arrested and charged with second-degree assault for allegedly hitting her 25-year-old foster daughter in their home.
According to charging documents obtained by CBS affiliate WJZ, Rebecca Johnson and her foster daughter Lindsay began arguing and Rebecca slapped her daughter across the face. It then escalated into an all-out fight.
Lindsay ran next door, where neighbors called 911.
When Harford County deputies arrived, they allegedly saw visible injuries.
Rebecca Johnson was arrested and charged with second-degree assault -- a misdemeanor.
The Baltimore County Police Department released a statement acknowledging a "domestic incident" on June 1 involving the chief's wife and her foster daughter. It said the chief is "deeply concerned about two people he cares about. Chief Johnson was at work in Towson when this incident occurred..." and was at his Baltimore County home when he learned of his wife's misdemeanor charge.
The statement noted that the Johnsons have cared for Lindsay since she was 3 1/2 years old, and became her foster parents through Baltimore City Social Services.
