Who's The Dirtier Party? Help Us Decide!
Craig, Foley, Vitter -- what is it with these Republicans? Do all those family values have them so repressed they have to skulk around in airport bathrooms, cavort with congressional pages or find solace in the arms of prostitutes? It's been a salacious streak for the GOP. But it ain't all Republicans. Former New Jersey Gov. Jim "I'm a gay American" McGreevey comes to mind. And of course, there's always Bill Clinton.
The Crypt wants to find out who's been the dirtiest party over the past 10 years. Here's the list so far:
Republican
Democrat
2007: Sen. Larry Craig (Idaho) and a lewd conduct incident at an airport bathroom
2004: Former Gov. Jim McGreevey (N.J.) and an affair with an aide, Golan Cipel
2007: Sen. David Vitter (La.) and the "D.C. Madam" prostitution ring
1998: Former President Clinton and former intern Monica Lewinsky
2006: Former Rep. Mark Foley (Fla.) and congressional pages
The Republicans are leading, but you can make the difference! Write in with all the other scandals we're forgetting so we can declare a victor. The scandal must involve a big fish: a federal lawmaker, state-wide elected official or a political appointee in the administration. It must have resulted in more than just rumors, i.e. the person was charged with a crime, admitted to misconduct, apologized for something or stepped down. And finally, it must have occurred in the past 10 years.
Who's the dirtiest of them all?? We will find out!
