Whitman Grilled On Statements About Post 9/11 Air Quality

Former EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman was on the hot seat today on Capitol Hill at a hearing on the Environmental Protection Agency’s handling of air quality issues at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Several Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties pounced on Whitman as she tried to defend statements made in the days after the attacks declaring the air in lower Manhattan “safe to breathe.”
