White House TV Correspondents to Get a "Raise"

CBS/Peter Maer

Construction crews are completing work on a long steel and concrete camera platform on the north (Pennsylvania Avenue) side of the White House. The elevated bridge-like structure will allow TV cameras to shoot over an ongoing utility project that obstructs the view of the famous North Portico backdrop.

Of course the platform won't block the construction noise that's become a regular part of White House TV live shots. The government-funded platform is planned as a temporary structure until the months-long utility work is complete.

Until then, things will be "looking up" for TV crews.
