Which is the fastest smartphone for browsing the web?

(CBS) - Ever wonder which smartphone is the fastest for web browsing?

Technology performance company Compuware studied the load times of several smartphones to see which one had the faster web browser load time. Over 200 million mobile measurements were taken in July of 2011.

Using both wireless carriers and Wi-Fi connections rather than a controlled laboratory, the results reflect real-world results. Thus the ranking doesn't necessarily apply to each smartphone's potential performance. They chose a few of the most popular phones and loaded over 1 million page views each.

According to Compurware spokesperson Frank Cioffi, the trials were meant to reflect "an aggregate real-world measurement of how the population experiences [smartphones]."

"Similar to performance difference across browsers, the performance differences across smartphones demonstrates the impact the phone type has on performance. Visitors access websites across a wide range of smartphones. The phone type is identified when visitors view a webpage," Cioffi elaborated on their methodology.
