Wear Red Day 2011: What Are You Wearing?
(CBS) There are lots of ways to fight heart disease, but probably none as fun as getting your favorite red dress, pumps or pant suit out of the closet.
That's the message from the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health, which have put together Wear Red Day 2011 in order to raise awareness about heart disease and women.
It's the number one killer of women in America - men too - claiming more than 600,000 lives each year.
Betty White's on board. Check out her video here.
The fashion industry is on board too with its annual The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection fashion show , held on the eve of Fashion Week's start in New York. This year, the show on Feb. 9 will feature celebs Dita Von Teese, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alison Sweeney, Julianne Hough, and Eve, who will wear red dresses by designers like Donna Karan, Zac Posen, Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka and Oscar de la Renta.
Some of the gowns featured in the show will be auctioned off to raise money for the effort. The show will kick off on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. EDT, and will be webcast live on CBSNews.com's The Heart Truth page.
