Water Gizmos To Keep You Cool

Many people look forward to summer, but they quickly change their tune when the mercury starts to rise.

There are some fun ways to keep cool in the oppressive heat, and Brett Larson, the tech editor for WCBS-TV in New York, has the following fun suggestions on Thursday's The Early Show

Neck-Massaging Pool Lounge For Two

The neck-massaging pool lounge for two not only offers a one-of-a-kind headrest that gently vibrates to massage neck muscles, but incorporates a comfortably contoured mesh seat for soothing and consistent cooling, no matter how long you recline. Four insulated cup holders keep an afternoon's worth of refreshments chilled and within easy reach, while a water-resistant side-zippered pouch safeguards keys or wallets. You can also use the side pouch to hold a portable CD or MP3 player; a small self-sealing hole in the pouch will conduct the headphone cord from your personal stereo to the headrest without letting any water in. The raft inflates with a standard 12-volt pump (not included) and a safety valve ensures quick deflation. Neck-rest massage requires two C batteries.
Cost: $259.95.

Keep-A-Cool Head Cap

This evaporative cooling hat uses a patented Hydroweave system that actually uses the sun's energy to cause evaporation, drawing heat away from your head. You charge the hat by running it under cool water; after its excess water is wrung out, the hat keeps your head up to 30 degrees cooler than the outside air temperature while keeping you dry and comfortable. The Hydroweave system combines hydrophilic (water-attracting) and hydrophobic (water-rejecting) fibers in a three-layer fabric that conducts body heat upwards, while retaining the cool water and releasing it slowly through evaporation. Even while the middle layer holds onto water, your head remains cool and dry, thanks to an inner lining that water can't permeate. The end result is a hat that actually cools you more effectively as the air temperature rises. One size fits most; adjustable hook-and-loop back.
Cost: $24.95.

And it features four-nozzle misting hub (with four extra nozzles), immersion shock protection, and a six-inch hose connection that attaches to any hose or spigot. It is UV and rust-resistant; adjusts to 56"H. UL listed for indoor and outdoor use.
