Watch: SDSU student wins new truck after swishing half-court shot

There's a reason they call it Midnight Madness. The official start of the college basketball season brings flashy dunk contests, pyrotechnic pep rallies and up-tempo scrimmages that make fans dream of conference titles.

But at San Diego State University's Vieja Arena late Friday night, all the excitement came not from a player, but from a student.

As CBS affiliate KFMB reports, freshman Craig Horlbeck stunned the crowd when he swished a half-court shot to win a new truck.

"I remember all the female and male athletes came and tackled me," Horlbeck told KFMB. "It was one of the best feelings I've ever had."

Horlbeck told the station that even Aztecs basketball coach Steve Fisher was impressed.

"He said maybe there's a spot for me next year," Horlbeck said. "Hopefully, maybe they'll throw me in there with two seconds left and I'll make a half-court shot."
