KOMO-TV reports that a television viewer in Washington state identified her as his 18-year-old daughter, Kacie Aleece Peterson of Hansville.
Her father went to New York City on Sunday to pick her up. He reported her missing Oct. 1.
New York authorities began circulating a photograph of her in the media on Oct. 22, requesting help identifying her. She kept telling them she didn't know who she was.
But a viewer saw her picture and contacted authorities.
A county sheriff's office in Washington say Peterson is originally from Colville in the eastern part of the state. She's been living in Hansville and attending Kingston High School.
CBS News affiliate station KREM-TV in Spokane, Wash., reported early Monday that Peterson and her father did not get along, according to officials at the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, which is in western Washington.
KREM-TV also reported that police learned that Peterson's bank account was emptied, causing them to believe that she was safe and left home on her own.
