Warrant details Fla. mom's Xmas Eve murder, son's arrest

GULF BREEZE, Fla. - An arrest report obtained by CBS News’ Crimesider reveals disturbing details surrounding the case of a Florida teen charged with beating and stabbing his mother to death on Christmas Eve.

According to the report, police found the teen’s mother lying on the floor just inside the entryway to the family’s Gulf Breeze home on Tuesday. Blood was surrounding her body.

There was a large kitchen knife impaled in her right eye, the arrest report says. Police say she had a large laceration on the right side of her neck along with wounds to her face and defensive wounds on her hands.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her teenage son is charged in her murder. According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the teen and his mother had been arguing Tuesday night when the 17-year-old attacked her with kitchen knives and a baseball bat.

The woman died at the scene. The sheriff's office says the teen was found hours after the incident at a nearby home, where he surrendered.

According to the sheriff's office, the teen confessed to the killing. He was being held without bond.

The arrest report says the teen was “calm, appeared to [be] emotionless, other than giving a small smile a few times” during his interview with police.

His alleged confession was redacted from the report.
