(CBS/AP) BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont woman Jeanne Sevigny, who initially claimed her mother who had Alzheimer's accidentally shot herself to death, has been sentenced to prison after pleading no contest to manslaughter in the case.

Sevigny, of Westford, was charged in 2009, three years after 78-year-old Mary Wilcox disappeared. Sevigny had said she found her Alzheimer's-afflicted mother handling a pistol in 2006 and that it fired accidentally.

Sevigny appeared in Chittenden Superior Court in Burlington on Thursday to change her plea, after which the judge sentenced her to nearly five years in prison.

The 61-year-old Sevigny also pleaded guilty to a charge of illegally disposing of a body.

Sevigny's son later disposed of the body, which still hasn't been found.

Sevigny had no comment in court before she was taken away to begin serving her prison sentence.
