Virginia Hazing Update: Four men arrested in hazing deaths of VSU freshmen charged with felony involuntary manslaughter
(CBS) CHESTERFIELD, Va.--The four men who were arrested for the hazing deaths of two Virginia State University students in April were charged on Wednesday with felony involuntary manslaughter, according to CBS DC.
The station said Eriq Benson, Charles Zollicoffer, James Mackey and Cory Baytop were already facing hazing charges after 19-year-old VSU freshmen Marvell Edmondson and Jauwan Holmes were swept under while trying to swim across the Appomattox River during an initiation for the "Men of Honor" group.
According to CBS DC, "Men of Honor" is not affiliated with the university.
The four suspects are scheduled to appear in court on June 30 on the hazing charges, said CBS DC.
