VIDEO: Tragedy averted at Texas McDonald's when robber's gun jams twice

(CBS/AP) FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police say a gunman's pistol jammed, averting a possible disaster inside a McDonald's.

Police say Jestin Joseph entered a south Fort Worth McDonald's after 9 p.m. Tuesday night and asked for a drink cup. He then allegedly drew a gun and pointed it at customers, demanding their keys.

Joseph is caught on video approaching Davage Armstrong and his son at the counter and pulling the trigger multiple times, according to CBS Dallas.

As Armstrong's son runs for cover, the father is seen wrestling the gunman, giving other patrons time to flee.

After the gun fails to fire, Joseph goes outside and fires a stray shot in the parking lot then comes back inside the restaurant , reports the station.

Police reportedly said Joseph went outside a second time then came back in before authorities arrived.

Armstrong told the station, "I'm pretty sure he was going to kill me," adding that his main concern was to protect his son and try to stop what was happening.

Joseph later told KTVT-TV in a jailhouse interview that he just wanted a cup of water, "but somebody said something, and I lost it."

The 24-year-old man is charged with five counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. He's being held on $500,000 bond.
