(VIDEO) Biltmore Hotel armed robbery comes to light in South Florida
(CBS) CORAL GABLES, Fla. - A safe filled with $15,000 was stolen from the ritzy Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables by armed robbers, in a heist that occurred more than three weeks ago but was just recently made public.
Surveillance video showed three armed men storming into a security office at the famous South Florida hotel at about 4 a.m. on January 21, CBS Miami reported.
A man whose face was covered pointed a gun at 25-year-old Victor Mosegui and made him get face down on the floor. Mosegui complied and waited as the robbers removed the safe.
Before leaving, the trio also took Mosegui's iPhone, according to a police incident report.
According to CBS Miami, police said the thieves knew exactly what they were looking for.
They came and went through the rear loading area which is reserved for employees only.
Chef Juan Antonio Martinez was in the loading zone at the time. He said one of the men held him at gunpoint as the other two stormed the office.
As soon as the robbers left in a brown Nissan Maxima, Martinez said he called 911.
No one was hurt during the robbery. No arrests have been made.
