VIDEO: 7-year-old shot while riding bike in Boston, police seek teen suspect

DORCHESTER, Mass. - A 7-year-old boy was hit by an apparent stray bullet while riding his bicycle outside his grandmother's apartment Sunday and police are still searching for a suspect. The shooting was captured on video.

CBS Boston reports that the shooting took place on Bowdoin Street outside a barber shop. The boy, Divan Silva, was hospitalized and is now in good condition. His mother, Dijanira Deandrade, said he was limping but able to walk.

According to the Boston Police Department, the suspect in the shooting is described as a heavy set black male between 14-18, about 5' 8" tall and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, white shorts and white sneaker.

A 20-year-old man was also grazed in the head and is expected to survive. People who live near the shooting are outraged.

"I'm getting mad, I'm frustrated. Stop shooting little kids," one neighbor said.

Police Commissioner Commissioner William Evans issued a statement saying, "I hope anyone with information that could help this investigation feels an obligation to share that information. The 7 year-old boy injured in this incident deserves as much. He didn't do anything wrong. He was simply riding his bike to the store when the suspect in this case fired the shot that could've killed him. Our detectives are working around the clock to identify the individual responsible but we need the community's help. If you have information, holding onto it only helps the suspect. Every little bit of information matters. And the person who shot Divan needs to be held unaccountable."
