Verizon taking all-you-can-eat data plan off the table

If you're still debating whether to sign up for Verizon's unlimited data plan, time's almost up. Starting Thursday, Verizon's all-you-can offer will be off the table.

Earlier today, the company confirmed that usage-based data pricing plans will apply to new customers The prices begin at $10 for 75MB of data for feature phones, with smartphone charges ranging between $30 and $80 plan for varying amounts of usage. Customers who already have the $30 monthly unlimited smartphone data plans with Verizon will be allowed to maintain their current terms of contract with the company.

Although Verizon said last month that it planned to dump its old data plan, it only confirmed today to the website Fiercewireless that the switchover will take place later this week.

In doing so, Verizon joins AT&T which last month month in moving to a tiered pricing model for data plans.
