Verbatim's New Flash Drive Doubles as...a Paper Clip?

This is one of those ideas that's either insanely brilliant or laughably bad. The Verbatim Store 'n' Go Clip-it USB drive merges your digital data with your hard copy. See, it's also a paper clip.

Available in seven cheery colors, the Clip-it is thin -- really thin. In fact, it's reminiscent of those paper clips with the cheery-colored plastic tops.

What I can't tell from the photos, however, is whether the clip has any spring to it. In other words, will it adhere to just a sheet or two of paper, or do you need to stuff it with multiple sheets for it to do any actual clipping.

Also unknown: the price: Verbatim is offering these in paltry 2GB and 4GB capacities, which to me suggests "throwaway" pricing of 5-10 bucks. More likely, these will end up costing $15-20, at which point I really have to question the value. (I routinely see 8GB flash drives for $15.)

Still, there's something about the Clip-it that strikes me as ingenious. It could be the perfect little drive for projects involving proof sheets or the like.

Verbatim announced these in Europe a couple weeks ago; I'm not sure when they'll be available in the U.S. I could find out, but only if a few commenters agree this falls into the "clever," not "crazy," category. What do you think?
