Vail H.S. student's dance date? Lindsey Vonn

MINTURN, Colo. - Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy sophomore Parker McDonald said he needed a date to his homecoming dance.

So when Olympic gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn walked by his lunch table while she was visiting his school, he asked her.

McDonald told The Vail Daily he "whipped out the question" because "she's awesome!"

Even more awesome, Vonn said, "Yes."

Vonn wrote on her Facebook page that she never got to go to a school dance, so she was excited to go to McDonald's homecoming dance Friday night.

"When Parker asked me he was cute, nervous and very polite, so of course I said YES! :)" Vonn wrote.

"She made my life," McDonald said, after walking into the homecoming dance with Vonn.

The 27-year-old Vonn is training in Vail this weekend with the U.S. Ski Team.
