(CBS/WTKR) NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police say two 13-year-old Virginia boys were arrested and face felony charges for allegedly spiking a 66-year-old teacher's drinks with hand sanitizer over a period of several months.

According to CBS affiliate WTKR, Hines Middle School's resource officer first received information about the alleged poisonings in January and began an initial investigation. The officer then contacted the Newport News Police Department's Special Victims Unit which conducted a thorough investigation.

WAVY-TV reports that the teens admitted to the poisoning and were suspended and transferred to a different school before their arrest March 6.

Police say the teacher had been seeing her doctor because of health problems, but was not hospitalized, WTKR reports.
