Google just took the wraps off a new version of Google Maps for mobile phones. The big news? It's now location-aware, meaning you can use it to pinpoint your current location. Previously, you had to enter your location manually, which wasn't always possible if, um, you didn't know it. (Consequently, it would be pretty tough to get directions.) But now, all you do is press "0" on the keypad and look for the blue dot on the map. If you don't have a GPS-equipped phone, Google Maps will determine your location based on cell phone-tower triangulation. The new version works with most Web-enabled phones, though the Palm OS version hasn't been updated yet. [via Google Operating System]
