USC Frat Suspended Amid Sex Assault Probe
A University of Southern California fraternity has been suspended as police investigate allegations that three students were assaulted at a rowdy party this week.
University officials say three women have reported assaults at Lambda Chi Alpha's frat house early Wednesday.
Police say they've interviewed one victim and hope others will come forward.
LAPD Capt. Denis Cremins says a 19-year-old student reports attending a mixer at the fraternity house Tuesday night, drinking punch, blacking out and waking up several hours later partly unclothed.
The woman reported the incident Wednesday, and told LAPD rape investigators that she believes she was sexually assaulted.
USC's Lambda Chi president Cameron Kay declined comment to the Los Angeles Times.
"USC takes sexual assaults very seriously and is fully cooperating with the LAPD on the investigation," Michael L. Jackson, USC vice president of student affairs, told the Los Angeles Times. "We are reaching out to the students and providing as much help as possible. We are also conducting our own investigation into student conduct issues."
Jackson said the fraternity is under "interim suspension" pending the investigation, reports the paper.
