U.S. Navy helicopter crashes in Red Sea; 2 crew missing
MANAMA, Bahrain The U.S. Navy says a helicopter has crashed in the Red Sea and a search is underway for two crew members aboard.
A statement from the Bahrain-based 5th Fleet says the MH-60S Knighthawk went down Sunday in the central Red Sea while operating with the destroyer USS William P. Lawrence.
"Three personnel are accounted for and stable," said the Navy in a press release. "Search efforts continue for two remaining personnel."
The Navy said an investigation is underway, but there was no hostile activity involved.
Search teams included aircraft and small boats.
