Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox 5 to prevent security threats

(CBS) - If you use Mozilla Firefox, open a new tab and download the latest update now. The release of Firefox 5 this week boasts "more than 1,000 improvements and performance enhancements," but the update will leave Firefox 4 in the cold. That's because the older version of the browser is no longer being supported.

A thread on mozilla.dev.planning has Mozilla product manager Asa Dotzler unofficially stating that the "planned security update for Firefox 4 is Firefox 5."

Computerworld reports that "Firefox 4 has reached what Mozilla calls EOL, for "end of life," for vulnerability patches."

Here are some reactions from the Twitterverse...

"What? The BRAND NEW Firefox 4 not getting security updates because FF5 is out? What are you doing, Mozilla?" - chrisgrant

"Holy cow, Mozilla... 1/4 of my favorite plugins don't yet work on ff4, & you're already dumping support for it?! Why?!?" - robertmason

"Whoa! Been a little out of touch but..but..but..Mozilla Firefox 5? So soon? What happened/is wrong with firefox 4?" - maddyvoldy
