University of Illinois linebacker Trulon Henry, two others, shot at college house party in Urbana
(CBS/AP) URBANA, Ill. - Shots were fired into a crowd gathering on a patio for a house party near the University of Illinois, wounding starting linebacker Trulon Henry and two others, according to police.
Urbana Police Lt. Bryant Seraphin says the shooting left Henry and another victim hospitalized, but expected to survive. He says the third person was treated and released. All of the victims are in their 20s.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Henry was shot in a ring finger and underwent surgery.
Seraphin says a fight precipitated the shooting.
But Illini head football coach Ron Zook says none of the Illini players were involved in the fracas. Zook also claims that Henry had gone to the party to clear out his teammates after hearing the gathering had turned turbulent.
Zook says Henry will miss the rest of the regular season.
Authorities are now searching for the gunman.
