NBA star Ty Lawson arrested on suspicion of DUI

DENVER -- Ty Lawson, point guard for the NBA's Denver Nuggets, was arrested on suspicion of DUI early Friday morning, reports CBS Denver.

Denver police say Lawson was pulled over just before 1:30 a.m., allegedly for speeding.

Lawson was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and careless driving.

According to arrest documents, this is Lawson's second alcohol-related offense, but more details were not given on when the first offense happened or what the circumstances were.

The Nuggets are scheduled to play in Denver Friday night against the Boston Celtics. It is not yet known if Lawson will play with the team.

Lawson was released from jail on a $1,500 bond Friday morning. He is due in court next Tuesday.

Denver Nuggets General Manager and Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly said in a statement released Friday that the team is aware of the incdient.

"Per team policy and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time," Connelly said.
