Two men arrested in San Francisco drive-by shooting

SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco police say two men have been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that left eight people wounded Sunday.

Police said 25-year-old Curtis Warren and 24-year-old Verle Jones, both of San Francisco, were taken into custody in Emeryville, Calif., on Monday afternoon.

Authorities said that eight people were wounded Sunday night when a man got out of a silver Volkswagen Jetta and began arguing with another man in a group standing on a corner in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood. CBS San Francisco reports witnesses told police the argument began over a dice game.

The shooter walked back to his car, got a gun and fired at the group. CBS San Francisco reports that the victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital and later released, according to Sgt. Danielle Newman with the SFPD.

Warren and Jones each face eight counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. The suspects were transported back to San Francisco after being arrested. It is unclear what roles the men allegedly played in Sunday's incident.

CBS San Francisco reports that car involved in the crime has been recovered by police, who are still looking for the murder weapon.

Booking photos will not be available due to pending identification matters, according to CBS San Francisco.

Police are encouraging witnesses to contact investigators at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
