Twitter launched image galleries on user profiles
(CBS) - You know how on Twitter, you share photos via third-party sites like yFrog and TwitPic, but it only shows up in your stream and a friend would have to click on a link on one of your tweets to actually view the photo? Kind of a pain, isn't it?
Surely, there's a better way...
Hooray, yesterday, your Twitter profile was outfitted with the microblogging site's new "user galleries."
"Galleries will display the 100 most-recent images the user has tweeted - dating back to January 1, 2010 - from supported photo-sharing services," said Mashable. "The update ties into Twitter's photo-sharing push and will dramatically change the appearance of Twitter profiles."
"We're rolling out one of my fave features today: user galleries! View photos an account has shared on Twitter. Sit tight - it's coming soon," tweeted Carolyn Penner (@cpen), Twitter's communication manager.
Penner also tweeted a link to get a glimpse of what said galleries look like. So neat!
This comes about as Twitter has now launched their own photo tool. Should those other sites be scared for their demise? "The launch of Twitter's own photo tool has come as a worry to Twitter's eco-system of third party developers, as the addition is the latest in a growing number of tools the company has added to its core service - which were previously only provided by other companies," said The Telegraph.
TwitPic, Instagram, and yFrog will also be supported in the image-sharing feature. Happy photo-tweeting!
