Tut Trips For 'Vacation' Recipient

The Early Show's "Great American Vacation" is under way.

The first stop on our 16-city Winnebago tour of the United States was in Springfield, Mo., "The Queen City of the Ozarks," where a lucky viewer was surprised with a summer getaway.

Thanks to a letter from her mom, Jodi Oehlke received a trip to Chicago, Ill., to see the Tutankhamun & The Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit at the Field Museum. Oehlke will be staying at the luxurious Essex Inn and enjoy dinner at Lawry's The Prime Rib.

That's not all.... Oehlke is headed to Cairo, Egypt, for a six-night stay at the Nile Hilton Hotel and will be taken on a private tour of King Tut's tomb, which is closed to the public!

"I was so surprised," Oehlke said. "History was one of my favorite subjects – I remember my teacher, the class and everything about it. So to be able to go and see everything that goes along with everything I've learned – I loved it. This will bring it to life."

In her letter to "The Early Show," Judy Oehlke cited her daughter's generosity as a volunteer and, because she has a second job, has little time for a vacation of her own.

"She is on the go all the time – she is never home, always moving and I just think she deserves a vacation and time to get away and relax," she told The Early Show's Dave Price. "I had to write the letter so she could take a rest – a little R & R."

Oehlke was even busy working when she learned of her surprise.

A D.J. for Springfield's 99 Hit FM, Oehlke was on hand for the morning broadcast held at Bass Pro Shop – where the giveaway was announced live on the radio station and on The Early Show. She had been busy promoting the event on the radio all week.

On Friday, June 9, one of two Early Show Winnebagos that are crossing the country will pull into Johnston City, Tenn., where Dave Price will surprise another deserving viewer with a "Great American Vacation."

Check out our map: if you live in one if the cities we're visiting, tell us about the one thing we just have to see and about someone there who's deserving of a "Great American Vacation."
