(CBS/AP) Country singer Trisha Yearwood is bringing her home-cooked meals to your home.

Starting in April, the country star will host a new daytime series on The Food Network dubbed "Trisha's Southern Kitchen."

"For me, cooking is very connected to my family and friends," Yearwood said in a statement. "Every recipe on the show carries wonderful memories with my loved ones and I can't wait to share my meals, stories and family photos with Food Network viewers."

Yearwood will offer recipe ideas for anything from a baby shower to a family reunion. She'll also give a glimpse into her life with nostalgic stories and visits from family and friends.

This isn't Yearwood's first foray into the kitchen. The Grammy winner published her first cookbook, "Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen," in 2008.

The six-episode series premieres April 14 at 10:30 a.m. ET/PT.

Just this week, Yearwood accompanied her husband, Garth Brooks, to a conference announcing the new inductees of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
