Treasured statue stolen from Sacramento woman's yard

(CBS) SACRAMENTO - A bronze statue stolen from in front of a Sacramento woman's house was 8-feet tall, so it was no mean feet to move it.

Now, Sharon Lukehart is desperate to find the rendering of a boy pushing a girl on a swing - it was a gift from her husband of more than 50 years, who died six years ago.

"Every time I walked into the yard and saw that statue, it reminded me of Don," Lukehart told CBS Sacramento.

"Really, I just want it back and I will pay a reward for it," she said.

Someone came into Sharon's front yard in her Arden-Arcade neighborhood last week, cut a lock to her gate and hauled away the statue.

Sharon has called scrap yards for help, according to CBS Sacramento, convinced someone's trying to cash in on the bronze behemoth.

"I've called the major recyclers and had pretty good luck," she said. "They all took my name and phone number."

But so far, no calls.

"It's like losing a little piece of him again," she said.
